昨天一打开邮箱，赫然映入眼帘的是正在葡萄牙ISCTE-IUL留学的2011级徐菀潞同学的以下邮件。
每逢节假日，总能欣喜地收到菀潞的问候，此次是来自葡萄牙。
很高兴菀潞有这样的体会和感受，也为菀潞的努力和进步鼓掌！
征得菀潞本人的同意后，我把这封邮件原封不动地发上来和2012级、2013级MS同学还有更多有意向同学分享。
经过六个月的不懈奋斗，2011级首届MS同学已经完全适应了全新的国外教育，
衷心希望每一位同学都能学有所获，心想事成！

Dear Ms.Song,
Happy Lantern Festival! Enjoy your family reunion!
And I also want to share my experience of six months in Portugal.
I have been in Portugal for six months, during this period, it is a nice opportunity and great challenge for me. It’s really difficult but I really enjoy it!
In the past, my major is nursing and I had worked in the hospital for a year. I love my job and my colleagues are very nice to me.But the negative side is in that period of time, I have little time to spare with my family. Because our work time took shift system. Moreover, the job had too much pressure for me. One day in the operating room I heard someone was crying because his father was suddenly dead. And then I thought if someone dies during my operation, what shall I do.I won’t know how to face it. I think it will affect my whole life. It’s too hard for me to face death during my job. Then I decided to change my direction and improve myself.
I choose Portugal, because I like Europe. It is a place with many different culture and artistic works. I think it is a good opportunity to know more things about Europe and the world to improve myself. Before I came to Portugal I already know Portuguese are kind, and have adventurous spirit. 500 year ago, Portuguese’s geographical discoveries opened a window to explore the world. It also proves that they have enthusiasm, wisdom and brave and inclusive.
When I arrived in Portugal I immediately faced many difficulties. The first thing is the language. I can’t use English to express myself very well. I started learning English in primary school, but we seldom speak English, so the listening and speaking part for me is more difficult. And also I can’t understand Portuguese either. When I ask a stranger for help even though they are nice but I can’t understand. That is a pity!
The second thing is food. The first time I went to a restaurant they asked me what I wanted and I said: I just want rice. That is very funny,because there are so many food on the buffet but I just ate rice because for us Chinese the rice is our every day dish.
The third thing is the teaching methods. It is very different in our country. Here, it is more important to communicate, organize. So my first problem is to improve my language and my communication skills. I hope in the future I can communicate better with the others.
During this period, I’m very happy that my friends who always help and encourage me. I would like to thank for their kindness and nice help. During this time it is also a good opportunity for me to feel different culture and background. I am very grateful for all the experiences and opportunities. I hope that more people can experience different cultures and communicate with different peoples. Experience itself is also a wealth. And for make friends from different cultures. Even though we have many differences but we also have a lot of things in common. We all like sports, music, games, etc.
I would like to thank my family that gave me this chance to go abroad. It is a good experience for me to grow up and to overcome the problem that I come to face. I’m keep going!
