1.Programme Introduction

This joint programme started by Southern Medical University (SMU) and the University of Birmingham (UoB) provides the students the professional knowledge and skills of the selected majors including health economics and health policies by integrating the superior educational resources of both universities.

This programme aims to cultivate interdisciplinary talents with international perspective who not only understand the operation rules of the medical and healthcare industry, but also systematically master the knowledge and skills of health economics and health policies and other subjects so as to promote the development of health and medicine.

2.Programme Advantage

1. Two universities join hands and integrate the advanced educational resources.

The programme combines the Chinese and the West education and integrates the superior educational resources of both universities. The efficient teams from the universities will provide assistance in academic affairs and second-year study application.

2. Domestic study for the first year to lay a solid foundation

1+1 study mode. The students spend the first year in Southern Medical University. In addition to the core courses taught in English, there will be different lectures by experts from healthcare industry and an intensive English course to lay a solid foundation and make full preparations for the overseas study.

3. Save money and time.

Students can save more money and time because they can apply for this programme in their final year of undergraduate study and enjoy a 20% discount of UoB’s tuition fee when they study at UoB. It’s more cost-effective. (Students who apply through a third party will not be able to have tuition discount)

4. Become a multi-skilled talents and have a better career.

In the context of the “healthy China” strategy, it cultivates talents with global vision and multi skills and enables the students to become a professional talent of Health Economics and Health Policy or other majors in healthcare industry and get closer to their dreams.
