      2014级MS班是一个充满活力的集体，来自外校同学的比例约占全体学生的50%，是历届学生中最多的一届。

Good morning! ladies and gentlemen,

First of all, I would like to thank this international master program for offering us great opportunity to further our study in ISCTE-IUL, thank all the teachers from international program office for their hard work. And also many thanks for giving me the good chance to give this speech representing all 2014 MS students.

I’m so honored and absolutely thrilled and eager to meet all the new friends. With great expectation, there exist confusion and anxiety, too. I bet. Besides classes of postgraduate degree, we’ll have to finish undergraduate curricula, too. For those who study double degree would have to complete two essays. And most of us need to cover a three-months internship. Aside of all these, some of you may take various exams of certificates which could cost you several months to go through the books. We have a truck of missions to complete, yet time is limited. However, just as Leonard Bernstein said, to achieve great things, you need a plan and not quite enough time. I’m sure all of us with urgency and ambition could conquer all these and give our best shot.

Then I wanna talk about friends. I’d like to quote a speech given by Meg Jay on TED entitled why 30 is not a new 20.In that she said: twenty-somethings who huddle together with like-minded peers limit who they know, what they know, how they think, how they speak and where they work. It’s a pity for oversea students to stay in their own little circle and narrow themselves in this way or that. So let’s go out to meet new friends! Not just Chinese, but American, Spanish, Indian or people from any other countries. It is great fun embracing the new life, blending yourself into local culture and even becoming part of it!

My dear friends, college is an opportunity to stand outside the world for a few years, between the orthodoxy of your family and the exigencies of career, and contemplate things from a distance. Cherish it, do not go off like a sleepwalker. Learn how to think and build a new self. Wish we all have fun in the next two years!
