Research Interests

Neurodegenerative diseases are disorders due to the loss of structure and function of neurons. Although the molecular mechanism of neuronal loss has been extensively investigated, there are currently no effective treatments to prevent or reverse neurologic deficits in neurodegenerative diseases. Our group has been studying the molecular mechanism of neuronal cell death, focusing on the role of transcription factors, such as PPARgamma.

Neurological diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease and depression, have been established comorbidities in diabetic patients. Neurological and metabolic disorders may share common risk factors. We have been studying the mechanism of neurological disorders driven by metabolic dysfunction.
