报告人简介:

Dr. Huiping Zhou’s research interest has been focused on the study of ER stress, inflammation, bile acids, and sphingosine 1-phosphate signaling in liver diseases and predominantly on metabolic dysfunction associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), alcoholic liver disease, and biliary pathophysiology. She received her Ph.D. from the College of Pharmacy, University of Kentucky in 1998. After her post-doctoral training in the Department of Internal Medicine/GI Division at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).  She joined the Department of Microbiology and Immunology and Lipid Research Group at VCU as a faculty member in 2004. She was promoted to Full Professor with Tenure in 2016. Her research group is mainly focused on studying the molecular mechanisms involved in liver pathophysiology. She has published more than 170 Peer-reviewed papers, review articles, and book chapters.  She is a Fellow of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases and the American Gastroenterology Association. She has been continuously funded by NIH, the Veteran Merit Review Award, and other funding agencies since 2005. She served as a standing member of The Study Section of Gastroenterology, VA Merit Review, and NIDDK HBPP.  She also served as an ad hoc reviewer for several NIH study sections and a number of international research funding agencies. She serves as an Associate Editor for Cell  & Bioscience, Digestive Liver Disease, and Liver Research. She is a current Editorial board member for Hepatology, World Journal of Gastroenterology, Journal of Gastroenterology, and Hepatology. Throughout her career, Dr. Zhou has been a dedicated mentor, training more than 50 Ph.D., MD/Ph.D., and Master Students as well as postdoctoral fellows. Her students and fellows received more than 60 awards from NIH, professional societies, and graduate school. She is supervising the doctoral dissertation of two Ph.D. students and one MD/Ph.D student. She has been invited to share her research findings at numerous national and international academic and research institutions, as well as scientific meetings.
