Academic Title:Executive director of Chinese Neuroscience Society; Chairman of Synaptic Plasticity Branchin Chinese Neuroscience Society; Director of Chinese Physiological Society.
The Main Research Direction and its Characteristics and Significance, the Development of New Medicine and New Technology, the Domestic Academic Status
Stroke has become China's second largest cause of death and the top cause of disability. Depression after stroke is a major obstacle in stroke rehabilitation. But clinically there is no effective neuroprotective drugs and ideal antidepressants. Gao Tianming has carried out a series of studies on new targets and new tools of neuroprotection and anti-depression, makingan original and systematic contribution to this field. He has been specially invited as Professor of Changjiang Scholarships by the Ministry of Education and has won the honorary title of the National Outstanding Youth. As the first contributor, he has gained second-grade prize of National Natural Science Award. He has published more than 40 papers in prestigious journals indexed in SCI, such as Nat Med (IF=28.05), Nat Neurosci(IF=14.98), Neuron (IF=15.98)and PNAS (IF=9.81), etc., which were cited more than 900 times. Experts speak highly of his research in three-page reviews respectively published in Nature and Neuron. Among doctoral students he supervises, two have won the honorary title of the National Outstanding Youth and one hasgained Award of National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation.
