Campus Facilities
ISCTE is strategically located in the centre of Lisbon. It is directly served by a subway station and a number of convenient city buses that provide fast and easy access to almost everywhere in the city. There are a number of hotels within walking distance as well as restaurants, shops and one of Lisbon's largest sports and recreational facilities. The airport is a ten-minute drive away.
Though located in the heart of Portugal's capital, the ISCTE campus offers a peaceful atmosphere with plenty of fresh air and open space. The facilities include four buildings (45,000 m2), one of which is the "Edifício II", which was inaugurated in 2003 and awarded the Valmor Prize, Portugal's foremost award for architectural excellence.
ISCTE Business School (IBS) has a dedicated building for graduate education where the classes take place. Ultra-modern and fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology, this centre has several study rooms, computer labs, recreational areas, a restaurant, a permanent art gallery, and a modern documentation centre. Our documentation centre can boast of more than 3,000 monographic titles, 170 scientific magazines and generic databases such as Proquest, Web of Knowledge, JSTOR - and financial-oriented databases - Bloomberg, Reuters, Datastream, Worldscope, Compustat, CRSP, to which all students have free access. ISCTE has also recently subscribed to Wharton's Research Data Services (WRDS), a comprehensive, breakthrough, web-based data management system that allows faculty and students to retrieve information easily from a wide variety of financial, economic and marketing data sources without actually having to be within the physical space of the Library or the Documentation Centre. Our School is one of the few in Europe to have WRDS. The documentation centre provides the following services: assisted research, local reading, home borrowing and use of laptops.
