2. Brief Introduction to Southern Medical University
The predecessor of Southern Medical University was the First Military Medical University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army which was founded in 1951 and was designated as a national key university in 1979. It was renamed Southern Medical University in August, 2004 and since then it has devoted itself to developing into a “multidisciplinary medical university”. The university boasts a large number of national key disciplines and it has developed a superior subjects group, with medical science as a backbone and with combination of medicine and engineering, combination of Western and Chinese traditional medicines, tropical medicine and bio-high-tech as supportive subjects. Southern Medical University takes pride in its faculties as there are a large group of well-known experts and professors. What’s more, it owns full infrastructure with excellent informationalized teaching facility.
The university now comprises 6 "national first-tier hospitals" with abundant teaching practice and employment resource. 3. Introduction to the Program
The program aims at providing an international platform for young teachers and students of medical colleges and universities to exchange with and learn from world top medical colleges and universities, well-established hospitals, medical and health organizations as well as pharmaceutical manufacturers. Teachers and students will broaden their horizon and open their mind through field survey and face-to-face communication. It will also help those young students aspiring to medical science and the medical and health management as their career to set up their objectives and directions of future development.
The program was successfully carried out in the summer holiday and the winter holiday of 2012. At present, the program “2013 winter camp for overseas study tour and survey of young teachers and students of medical colleges and universities” is open to registration.

Objective: get to know the structure, responsibility and features of Western medical and health management system

(2). Title: comparative study of Chinese and Western medical institutions and medical insurance system.

Objective: get a general idea of the structure of the hospital management, insurance system, electronic medical record, separation of the physicians’ profit from drugs and medical disputes.
(3) Title: experience and observance of well-known pharmaceutical companies in Western developed countries
Place: pharmaceutical companies
Objective: get to know about the whole process of the R&D and production of medicines

6. Advantages and Features

7. Cost of the Program
(1) Security money of registration
Including visa appointment fees/ visa fees/foreign invitation fee/service charge of visa application/training fee before visa interview/mailing costs of visa/ air ticket booking fee/booking fee of experts and research activities; but not including the cost of applying for passport and the transportation cost of visa application in the US consulate.
