 主要科研方向有4个:

  1. 新发、再现、机会性致病寄生虫的新型诊治技术研究:包括重要诊断性及保护性抗原的基因工程制备,应用重组抗原构建诊断试剂盒,研制基因工程疫苗、DNA疫苗等。主要的防控研究对象为弓形虫、日本血吸虫、广州管圆线虫等。
  2. 蚊媒的分子生物学及防护技术研究:运用现代分子生物学、高分子材料、控释缓释、驱杀虫剂复配等技术手段来研究蚊媒的分子生物学特性和蚊媒的个人及集体防护方法,包括:蚊媒重要基因的分离克隆,转基因蚊虫的构建,登革感染引起蚊媒miRNA谱的变化,蚊媒的长效、高效驱杀虫药械的研制等。
  3. 病原的表观遗传学及病原与宿主细胞的相互作用研究:研究弓形虫Pru株速殖子和缓殖子基因组的甲基化、组蛋白的甲基化和乙酰化水平,从表观遗传学角度解释速殖子与缓殖子的相互转化机制。研究弓形虫感染宿主细胞后细胞信号网络发生的变化,进而从细胞信号水平解释弓形虫感染的机制;及研究登革病毒感染肝细胞后,细胞信号网络发生的变化,从细胞信号水平研究登革感染所引起的肝损伤的机制。
  4. 生物杀虫剂的开发:利用昆虫病毒和真菌对昆虫特异性感染的特点,将外源毒力基因引入并构建重组昆虫病毒和真菌以提高其致病性,主要应用于蚊媒的防控。

A Brief introduction for Department of Pathogen Biology
  
    Department of Pathogen Biology is the basis of the Key Laboratory of Prevention and Control for Emerging Infectious Diseases of Guangdong Higher Institutes, and the key Laboratory of Tropical diseases of Guangdong Province. The course of “Medical Parasitology”taught by this department is the “National Essence Course”, “National Bilingual Teaching Demonstration Course” and  “Graduates Demonstration Course of Guandong Province”.
In this five years, this department has got more than 10 million Yuan funding support from NIH, USA (430,000 USD), Guangdong Province Leading Talent Project (6 million Yuan), National Natural Science Foundation of China and Guangdong province.
       The research directions of this department are as follows.

  1. The research of new diagnostic and prevention method for new-emerging, re-emerging, and opportunistic parasitosis: the diagnostic and protective antigens were screened and prepared in large scale. The recombinant  diagnostic antigens were used for diagnostic kit construction. Genetic and DNA vaccines are also exploited. The pathogen targets includes Toxoplasma gondii,Schistosoma japonicum, and Angiostrongylus cantonensis.
  2. The research of molecular biology and preventive methods of mosquito vectors: modern molecular biology, high molecular material, releasing control and recipes of pesticide and repellent research are applied to research on the mosquito molecular biology characteristics and personal/mass preventive methods, including gene cloning, transgenic mosquito platform construction, miRNA profile change of mosquito infected by dengue virus and long lasting repellent exploit.
  3. The research of pathogen epigenetics and the pathogen-host cell interaction: T. gondii Pru tachyzoites and bradyzoites genome methylation, histone methylation and acylation levels are detected to explain the mechanism of the conversion between the tachyzoite and bradyzoite. The cell signaling network change of the host cell after infection by T. gondii was analyzed to explain the infection mechanism of this parasite; The cell signaling network change of liver cells after infection by different serum type of dengue viruses was analyzed to explain the mechanism of liver injury.
  4. Bio-insecticides exploitation: the specific infection characteristics of  insect viruses and fungi were utilized, and some toxin genes were introduced into  to construct recombinant insect viruse and fungus to improve their pathogenic ability. The recombinant insect viruse and fungus are mainly used in mosquto control.
